Nothing Phone (3) Review: A Unique Daily Driver

My package arrived on the expected date, secured in a plain cardboard box. Inside, the white smartphone was nestled in a recyclable paper tray. I also found a transparent silicone case, a USB-C cable, and a stylus tucked neatly in separate compartments. Everything was pristine and well-organized.

Built Quality
The phone feels solid with its smooth matte white finish and flat aluminum sides. The unique transparent back panel reveals internal components without feeling fragile. Its weight is balanced, making it comfortable for single-hand use during long browsing sessions.

Camera Performance
All four 50MP cameras capture sharp details in various scenes. I photographed my black and white cat napping on a patterned rug; the main camera distinguished individual grey fur strands against the rug's intricate design. The periscope lens let me zoom clearly on a squirrel cracking a nut on a distant oak branch, showing the texture of the bark and the nut's shell. In a dimly lit café, Night Mode preserved the warm glow of hanging Edison bulbs without over-brightening the dark wooden tables, keeping the ambiance natural. The ultra-wide sensor captured my entire backyard garden in one frame, from the red ceramic pots on the left to the green hose reel on the far right, with no curved distortion at the edges. Motion Capture froze my dog shaking water off its coat, with individual water droplets suspended mid-air against the bright afternoon sky.

Glyph Interface & AI Features
The Glyph lights on the back pulse a soft white light for my partner's messages, which I see by just glancing at the phone face-down on my desk. I long-pressed the Essential Key to quickly note a grocery list, and the AI sorted it into "Dairy" and "Produce." A custom Glyph animation I assigned for calendar reminders flashes in a specific sequence, telling me a meeting is starting without turning the screen on.

The 6.77-inch AMOLED screen is bright enough that I can read articles clearly under direct noon sun. The 120Hz refresh makes scrolling through my long photo library feel fluid. Software & Daily Use
Nothing OS feels clean with minimal pre-installed apps. The monochrome theme and widget shapes let me create a homescreen that shows only my calendar, weather, and frequent contacts, reducing visual clutter. Transitions between apps like my banking app and music player are instant, with no stuttering or lag.
